Rocking Out With My Socks Out

June 2nd. The day I finally got to go to a 5 Seconds of Summer concert.

I first became a fan of them when they were announced as the support act for One Directions Take Me Home Tour. Each video I watched of the boys made me fall more in love with them- from being excited at new covers being uploaded to release of debut album '5 Seconds of Summer'.

So, when tickets went on sale back in July 2014(wow, that was a crazy long time ago), I was more than a little nervous. Setting my alarm more than an hour before tickets were due to go on sale, the nerves kept me up most of the night. I logged into Ticketmaster on every device I could find in the house- even roping in my Dad to help out.

The minutes leading up to the sale time ticked by and suddenly the page loaded and tickets were on sale. I frantically put all the correct details in- panicking that I may do something wrong. I finally got to the confirmation stage and the it hit me. I was seeing 5SOS headline the Metro Radio Arena.
The next 11 months seemed to go painfully slowly(aside from concert days, obviously) but eventually the day came. 10:10am and we were waiting in Carlisle Train Station, ready to head across to Newcastle. First stop when we arrived in Newcastle? Starbucks of course.

We decided to go to the arena early so I could catch up with some of Richard Squad,(if you read my Vamps blog you'll know exactly what I'm talking about- if not this probably confused you) and it was so lovely to see them again.

After a quick McFlurry in McDonalds, we decided to head back to the venue- the doors had already opened at this point but we weren't really bothered considering we had seats. There was already an amazing atmosphere- and the support band hadn't even come on yet.

Hey Violet surprised me. I’d read other peoples tweets on them and wasn’t expecting much at all- but when they started singing I decided that they were okay- and when they sang a cover of Taylor Swifts ‘Blank Space’- I couldn’t help but sing along.

As the interval ended and the lights went down, my inner fangirl was released. What am I saying, I don’t have an inner fangirl?? I am just a fangirl. ANYWAY, the music began and I began singing along right at the start.

All the times I’ve watched videos of 5SOS playing live could not prepare me for this night. They opened the show with End Up Here which is one of my absolute favourite 5SOS songs, and it sounded absolutely incredible live. Of course they sang She Looks So Perfect, Good Girls and Don’t Stop. And Amnesia. Don’t even get me started on Amnesia. This was of course one of those moments where I can’t help but fully bawl my eyes out- understandable, right? Here’s a panorama of the crowd during the song so you can relate to where I’m coming from.

5SOS closed the show with a cover of The Romantics ‘What I Like About You’, getting everyone back up on their feet and singing along.

Like any concert, 5 Seconds of Summer's 'Rock Out With Your Socks Out' was incredible and I'm really happy that I had the opportunity to attend the show!
